Belgian duo Aeroplane

I’ll admit, while I really enjoyed the original Friendly Fires track, I couldn’t help but feel something was missing. Fortunately, Aeroplane had a similar opinion, subsequently lining up Au Revoir Simone for what is a gem of a remix.

I’m still torn between the angelic vocal track of the Brooklyn trio – Au Revoir Simone, and the heavy break that Aeroplane drops after the final verse. If you’re a fan of Aeroplane’s MGMT – Electric Feel remix, you’ll find this track equally as pleasing, albeit a slight bit more on the banger side. As far as Friendly Fires is concerned, this is likely a departure from their core sound of tracks like “On Board”, but certainly appreciated. Enjoy.

The guys from Depeche Mode are probably pretty happy about this track.

The Presets are a Sydney based electronic rock band. Among their many synthesizers, they use Autotune Pitch Software to match their voice to the pitch of their songs.

The band released their first album in 2005. They then toured with The Dissociatives, a band co-fronted by Silverchair alum Daniel Johns. Johns has also laid down a track for The Presets song Cookie.

Presets members Kim Moyes and Julian Hamilton also are members of the Australian instrumentalist group Prop.

DJ Mehdi has been producing albums for major French hip hop artists since 1995, but has also been extremely active with multiple side projects and solo albums. Being one of the better known underground hip hop producers in France, its no wonder that he has collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk and MC Solaar, plus Montreal’s Chromeo.

He was born in a Parisian suburb, of Tunisian descent, in 1977.

This jam comes from the compilation – Ed Red Vol III. It is significantly more laid back than his other tracks. When on tour, DJ Mehdi is often billed as ‘Everything black party music,’ Sex Drums Beats & Blues’, or ‘Kraftwerk were African’ (OK, maybe that last tag line isn’t too aggressive)

DJ Mehdi is also known for being married to French graffiti artist Fafi.

I know, I know, this guy is a bit of old news in other countries, but here, in THIS COUNTRY, electronic music is significantly less of a force. Mylo released Destroy Rock and Roll in 2004, and it was an instant smash in the UK, pleasing even the ears of Sir Elton John.

This is the best walking song ever. Add this song to your iPod, press play, and no hill is too high to walk as long it takes less than five minutes, which is the extent of this song, though the next couple tracks on the album are great for walking as well.

And no, I do not in any way condone destroying rock and roll, though when listening to this album, I will forget about it for the time being.
