Phoenix (the band), not the fiery eagle-like mythical creature, is a French alternative rock band from Versailles, France. They were formed around the same time as Air and Daft Punk, all three coming from the Parisian suburbs.

Phoenix’s connection to Daft Punk doesn’t end there. Their guitarist, Laurent Brancowitz, played in a band with Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo before joining Phoenix.

This song has more of an Acid Jazz feel that does Phoenix’s other works. It almost sounds like something Daft Punk would sample. Maybe they have?

If I Ever Feel Better was also featured in the ending credits of the second episode of Entourage during the fifth season. That’s episode 56 for anyone that’s counting.
