Brazilian Girls – St Petersburg

Brazilian Girls band

The Brazilian Girls are neither Brazilian nor girls. They are an indie rock band from New York City, and they mix all kinds of styles including eletronic, chanson, lounge, and folk.

For the time being, I’ll categorize their style as Post Modern Pop…whatever that means.

The story of the Brazilian Girls began when singer Sabina Sciubba was born to an Italian father and a German mother. She lived in Rome, Munich, and Nice. She thus became fluent in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German, giving Manu Chao a run for the title of most-lyrically-capable band singer. Also like Manu Chao, Sabina will often switch between languages mid song.
