DJ Mehdi has been producing albums for major French hip hop artists since 1995, but has also been extremely active with multiple side projects and solo albums. Being one of the better known underground hip hop producers in France, its no wonder that he has collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk and MC Solaar, plus Montreal’s Chromeo.

He was born in a Parisian suburb, of Tunisian descent, in 1977.

This jam comes from the compilation – Ed Red Vol III. It is significantly more laid back than his other tracks. When on tour, DJ Mehdi is often billed as ‘Everything black party music,’ Sex Drums Beats & Blues’, or ‘Kraftwerk were African’ (OK, maybe that last tag line isn’t too aggressive)

DJ Mehdi is also known for being married to French graffiti artist Fafi.
