Tokyo Police Club was originally a basement musical experiment between singer/bassist Dave Monks, guitarist Josh Hook, keyboardist Josh Wright, and drummer Greg Alsop. The nature of this experiment was to pump out catchy post punk jams. Mission Accomplished.

Most of their songs are bass driven, which separates them from more common guitar-focused post punk bands like Razorlight or Dirty Pretty Things. Overall, Tokyo Police Club sounds like a grittier Scissors for Lefty.
