Scissors for Lefty – Ghetto Ways

Formed in either 2001 or 2002 while attending school in San Luis Obispo, Scissors for Lefty is composed of two families – the Garzas and the Krimmels. Their sophomore album, Underhand Romance, contains all kinds of radio hits, such as Lay Down Your Weapons, Nickels and Dimes, and this track, Ghetto Ways.

Funny fact: One of the Garza’s, Robby Garza, is actually Stevie Garza’s uncle, though only 4 years older.

Some people credit the herky-jerky guitar licks and sexed up guitar vocals to Robby Garza’s addition. Whatever it is, their funky twist on post punk and new wave sounds sets them apart from the hoards of other post punk bands coming out these days.
